Due to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Ards and North Down Borough Council has made the difficult decision to cancel all Council events until 30 November 2020 in line with Government and Public Health Agency advice. Existing permissions granted to external organisations to hold events on Council land have also been suspended until the end of August - a decision that will be kept under review.

Head to the seaside village of Groomsport and Cockle Row Cottages and leave the hustle and bustle behind you while relaxing beside the sea. Discover what life was like in 1600’s for a fisherman and his family in this thatched cottage, smell the turf fire and perhaps taste soda bread fresh from the griddle.  

Friendly staff in the Visitor Information Centre are on hand to help you make the most of your visit and inspire you with ideas on how to spend your time. Watch the Birds on Cockle Island, discover pieces of pottery shipwrecked on the shore or challenge your family to the scavenger hunt.  Check out the great range of souvenirs, treating the little ones to a net and bucket for rock pooling or take home a memento of your visit.

Children can enjoy the seaside playground and splash pool or the beautiful stretch of sandy beach, a stone’s throw away. 

The Visitor Information Centre is open seasonally and on selected weekends offers free family entertainment. Find out what's happening each month...
