About

The annual Open House Festival Picnic in the Park returns to Ward Park this summer for nine Sunday afternoons of free music throughout July and August. Acts performing at the bandstand include King's Call, one of the greatest Thin Lizzy tribute acts in Ireland, The Arms of Venus de Milo, always a popular billing at Picnic in the Park, the remarkable McClean Family, who delight audiences with their unique brand of traditional folk, and the much-loved The 19th Street Band, with their high-energy Americana, hillbilly, good-time music. The series will culminate on Sunday 31st August with the traditional Open House Festival Bluegrass Picnic.

Visitors are welcome to bring along a picnic and refreshments … so long as they take their rubbish home, or use the recycling hub at the park. Camping chairs, rugs, and sunscreen are also recommended, but gazebos are not allowed. Dogs are welcome … but must be restrained on a short leash at all times.

Bangor Station is just a short walk away, so using public transport is recommended if possible, but there are also several car parks close by. Visitors are urged to be respectful of local residents when parking. Visit Translink.co.uk for timetable details.

Details of all nine events, which start at 3pm and end at 5pm, can be found at www.openhousefestival.com
