About

The annual Open House Festival Picnic in the Park returns to Ward Park this summer for nine Sunday afternoons of free music throughout July and August. Acts performing at the bandstand include the popular Bangor punk band, Wasted Talent, who start the season off on Sunday 5th July. The lineup also features Anna's Number, always a popular billing at Picnic in the Park, the fabulous Lee Hedley Blues Band, and the much-loved The 19th Street Band, who always delight the crowd with their high-energy Americana, hillbilly, good-time music. The series will culminate on Sunday 30th August with Otis & The Elevators, one of the most influential local soul/R&B bands of the last three decades.

Visitors are welcome to bring along a picnic and refreshments … so long as they take their rubbish home, or use the recycling hub at the park. Camping chairs, rugs, and sunscreen are also recommended, but gazebos are not allowed. Dogs are welcome … but must be restrained on a short leash at all times.

Bangor Station is just a short walk away, so using public transport is recommended if possible, but there are also several car parks close by. Visitors are urged to be respectful of local residents when parking. Visit Translink.co.uk for timetable details.

Details of all nine events, which start at 3pm and end at 5pm, can be found at www.openhousefestival.com

This event is Grant Aided by Ards and North Down Borough Council's Tourism Department.
