Get ready for a spectacular day of music, dance and community spirit as Bangor Beats and Rhythms brings the heart of local tradition to the city centre.
This vibrant, family-friendly event is a celebration of traditional music and dance with a dazzling programme which promises a fantastic chance to enjoy toe-tapping tunes, performances from fine local musicians and dancers and even the chance to get up and dance yourself.

On Saturday 1 August, why not travel on the dedicated shuttle, which will run between Balloo Park & Ride and Bangor City Centre to enjoy the entertainment on offer throughout Bangor. (This is a free service, with no tickets required, which will operate on a first come first served basis). Find out more about the shuttle service.
What to Expect
From afternoon through to evening, Holborn Square will come alive with a dynamic programme celebrating the very best of local talent and traditional arts.
Talented Musicians and Dancers
Enjoy performances from Ards CCÉ, showcasing the next generation of traditional musicians and dancers from across Ards and North Down.
Join In Set Dancing
Step into the rhythm with renowned musician and dance caller Oisín McCann, leading fun, inclusive set dancing sessions—no experience needed!
Riverdance Star Performance
Be inspired by Lauren Smyth, a principal dancer with Riverdance, performing alongside her talented dance school in a high-energy showcase.
Songs From the Big Blue
Take a musical journey with songs inspired by the sea, featuring well-loved local classic songs performed by a superb lineup of musicians and singers.
Community and Celebration
With more opportunities to dance, sing and take part throughout the day, the event creates a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all ages.
The Hoolie Hootenanny Finale
Finish the day in style with a lively, high-energy finale featuring a full band of musicians and guest performers—including a special appearance by renowned Ulster- Scots Musician and Lambeg Drummer, Willie Drennan. Expect big songs, dancing and an unforgettable party atmosphere!
