About

Join Allan the Explorer and his family of 'Wee Critters' at WWT Castle Espie Wetland Centre this Summer.

They'll take you on a wild adventure to learn all about the amazing animals that share our world, the threats they are facing and the 'wee ways' that we can all change the world!

Let your little explorers get up close with wildlife. Listen to Craig the cockroach's hiss. Learn why Charlotte the tarantula has a hairy bottom. Meet prickly pal Huckleberry the hedgehog. Check out Arthur the armadillo's amazing armour. Find out what a striped skunk's infamous spray smells like. And join us for a fun, interactive and educational experience.*

Interactive animal education sessions will run at the following times on Sunday 30th June 2024.

10am
11am
12noon
1.15pm
2.15pm
3.15pm

(each session lasts roughly 45mins)

From the curiously cute to the creepy and crawly…a wild time awaits this Summer at Castle Espie!

This event is free for WWT members or included in admission. Spaces for each session are limited. Pick up a ticket for your chosen session from reception on the day of the event.

* We cannot guarantee which critters will take part in each interactive animal education session on 30th June 2024.This will be dependent on a number of factors including breeding season, eating patterns, shedding patterns, rest days, the temperature and the wee critters also get to decide whether they feel like taking part! Different critters will also take part in each session during the day to ensure that the animals have time to rest and relax.
