This event is organised by and was submitted by the Northern Ireland Highland Dance Association (NIHDA)

 

The Emerald Isle Highland Dance Festival will this year feature over 200 Highland Dancers from across the UK and Europe, Canada and USA.

The youngest of dancers will begin competitions early on the Saturday morning, progressing through the levels to welcome the Premier dancers by midday.

Following this first stage of Competition, the dancers will parade to Comber Square accompanied by Down Academy Pipes and Drums.

The evening will then see a solo choreography competition which will see another 50 dancers perform on the stage to a personally selected piece of music.

Sunday will see World-Class Dancers competing for Championship titles in both Confined and Opened events. Before closing with a special event Irish Jig performed by the top 12 dancers of each age group.

 

This event is Grant Aided by Ards and North Down Borough Council's Tourism Department.
