- The Hall was opened in 1883 for the purpose of Freemasonry in Bangor. The land was originally donated to Lord Clanmorris by his father-in-law, Robert E Ward of Bangor Castle, to build the Clanmorris's family home. Following Robert E Ward's death, Lord Clanmorris took up residence in Bangor Castle.
