About
Bangor Castle was built in 1852 for the Hon. Robert Edward Ward as his family home. Following the death of Lady Clanmorris in 1941, the council purchased this remarkable building to use as its headquarters. Today, the City Hall is only fully accessible to the public once a year for EHOD.
The guided tour of the castle offer a rare opportunity to see behind the scenes of this beautiful building. The tour will cover the ground floor, including rooms such as the music salon, dining room, drawing room and library. Visitors will hear about the family who lived here and how they developed the demesne, including Castle Park and the walled garden.

The North Down Museum, located within the castle, will also be open, offering visitors the chance to further explore the history of Bangor and the surrounding area.
