121 Whiterock Bay, Killinchy, Newtownards, Co Down, BT23 6QA
View front door showing Whiterock Bay

About

This delightful bright home is situated in a spectacular position, on the front row of houses on Whiterock Bay, from the front garden hedge, just the road and a small wall are between the house and the sea. Strangford lough is an area of outstanding natural beauty and this is a wonderful place to come and enjoy all it has to offer in comfort. The large window in the living room is an amazing place to sit and watch the fantastic bird life, paddle boarders, kayakers and boats and even the occasional seal.

The bay is very picturesque and a lot of people just enjoy ambling along the road on the waterfront. If you continue across the causeway to Sketrick Island there is a footpath around the island with spectacular views of the lough.

Strangford Lough Yacht Club is just a 2 minute walk from the house. The house is also walking distance (approx. 15 minutes) to Daft Eddy’s on Sketrick Island, a popular local bar and restaurant situated on the other side of the bay. A short drive will take you to a couple of other excellent restaurants/pubs and local grocery shops at Balloo and Lisbane. Belfast is only a 35 minute drive away, and other sites of interest all within 30-60 minutes drive include a number of National Trust properties, the Mourne Mountains and several golf courses, other destinations in house file.

The space

The property is certified by Tourism NI and very comfortably sleeps six in three spacious bedrooms (King, Double and Twin) and there is one large family bathroom, and one ensuite (in the double room).

The large kitchen/dining room has everything you could need for cooking, as well as sea views and double doors to a secluded, enclosed, suntrap rear garden with a small patio and outdoor seating.

The living room, with its panoramic view of the lough, has a wood burning stove for cosy winter nights (logs available to purchase in local shop at Balloo).

A utility room is available by the backdoor with a washing machine and Belfast sink.

Guest Access

The property is accessed up a flight of steps. There is a private driveway, which can easily accommodate two or three cars. There is access to the sea front a few metres along the sea wall to the left of the property when exiting.

Please note it is not a sandy beach - swimmers and kayakers do enter the water at this point, but sea shoes are needed, as ground is rough stones. Also there is a large tidal range and parts of the shoreline have mud which should not be walked over at low tide.

Other things to note

There is a local company renting kayaks and paddleboards in the bay and they also run courses, if of interest.
