Step into the timeless charm of the Walled Garden for a magical day of traditional willow sculpture with talented willow artist Heather McDermott.
Create your own garden willow hare using traditional weaving techniques and the finest quality willow, sustainably grown in our Salley Garden.
You will begin with a simple framework and gradually build the shape and character of your hare, choosing a pose that feels natural to you, from alert and upright to relaxed and playful. As you shape, layer, and bend the willow, you will learn the free form sculpture techniques that will bring your hare to life .
This workshop is perfect for beginners, no prior experience is required, just a little manual dexterity and a love of creating.
Weather permitting, you will also visit the Salley Garden to discover more about the beauty and sustainability of willow. Please come suitably dressed.
