As part of European Heritage Open Days come along to the Ulster Folk Museum and join Victoria Millar, Senior Curator of History, for the next edition of Homes in Focus - a series of talks about the Ulster Folk Museum's beautiful buildings, delving into the lives of those who lived in them and the history of these unique homes.
For this event we'll be learning about the Cluan Place Houses. Discover what life was like for those who lived in them in the early 1900s, including Margaret Cranston, who earned a living through needlework, and William Cranston, Margaret's brother, who was a labourer in the shipyard.
Originally located close to the junctions of the Mountpottinger and Albertbridge Roads in East Belfast, the houses were constructed as 'cottage-style' houses, with features including a small projecting porch and a tiny front garden with railings.
