Enjoy fantastic seasonal fun in Newtownards with the return of the Christmas Market. Along with festive entertainment and Santa’s Grotto at The Precinct on South Street, the town will be abuzz as you enjoy the atmosphere.

The local market will adorn High Street and South Street in the town centre, offering everything from crafts to hot food, a seasonal bar, local produce and handmade gifts. The perfect opportunity to pick up some Christmas shopping and support local! 

There will be entertainment throughout the day in Conway Square with a fantastic community festive performers, bringing that magic touch in the lead up to the big switch on of the Christmas Tree lights by Santa and Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Karen Douglas at approximately 5pm in Conway Square.

Celebrity chef Suzie Lee (winner of BBC's Best Home Cook 2020) will be accompanied by South Eastern Regional College (SERC) Catering and Hospitality lecturers and students to bring lots of culinary inspiration to the day, and maybe give you a few new ideas for tasty Christmas treats. 

Please note that due to weather forcast we have regretfully cancelled aerial trapeze and String Ninja performances

Seasonal Pop-Up Shops and Creative Exhibitions - Ards Arts Centre (Town Hall), Conway Square, Newtownards 

Creative Peninsula Christmas Edit Pop-up Shop (open 10am to 4pm)  | Enjoy a unique shopping experience and purchase that perfect handcrafted gift.

Creative Peninsula Winter Exhibition  | Featuring a variety of artworks and styles including paintings, prints, and drawings by the finest artists and makers from Ards and North Down.

Ards Visitor Information Centre 

Pop into the Newtownards Visitor Information Centre (beside the bus station) for information on things to do throughout the festive season. Browse the gift shop and pick up souvenirs, locally crafted jewellery and textiles, handmade soaps, Christmas ornaments and more. There is still time to post a special gift from Ards and North Down to far-flung loved ones!


Things to note

Road closures:
Road closures will be in place from 6pm on Friday 25 November until 10pm on Saturday 26 Nov to South Street, High Street and Meeting House Lane.

Getting here:
We expect the town to be busy; plan your journey ahead of time. Information on car parking in the town.Please note there is no plan to close car parks to accomodate this event. 
Please take public transport if possible. Newtownards Bus Station is located approximately 5 to10 minutes walk from Conway Square and the town centre.For information on bus timetables visit, Translink.

A small area set aside for those with accessibility needs will be available for use, with viewing access to the stage and the Christmas tree. This will be available on a first come basis only on the day. Once at capacity it will be closed off.
Mobiloo will also be in attendance.

There will be no lantern parade at this event.
Event will run 10am-7pm.
Event is free to attend, but charges apply for purchases such as food, drink and children’s rides.

Events will be photographed and filmed. Images may be used in Ards and North Down Borough Council promotional material and on promotional channels including web, social media, and printed publications. During the events if you do not want your image to be used, please inform our event staff.
