Saturday 20 November: 9am - 9pm, switch on at 6pm at Danske Bank in the Town centre

Saturday, 20 November is the day for the Christmas lights switch-on with a fantastic themed market during the day and into the evening. Local bars and restaurants will be putting on a great welcome and our creative sector will also be showcasing their many talents meaning that this Christmas a visit to Bangor will be a truly memorable and enjoyable experience.

We have an amazing line up planned for the Bangor Christmas light switch on this year, supported by Bangor Chamber of Commerce and Ards and North Down Borough Council together with Main Street, My Street. There will be an all day line up of entertainment, a lantern parade led by Santa and two markets running between 9am - 9pm.

Market Fresh will have 45 stalls of artisan foods, crafts and variety stalls situated along lower Main Street 9am-6pm, with a music stage outside Trinity Church featuring performances by Ryan Just Sayin (11am-3pm) and Party Deejay NI (3.15pm-5.15pm).

Urban Market will have 30 stalls along Mill Row 5pm - 9pm with buskers and bar serving seasonal beverages and hot food.

Main Street, My Street have as always put together a programme that all the family will enjoy, with hands on activities for the little ones that will have them taking home memories to cherish:

Play the Passport to Christmas Challenge | Participating retailers | 2-5pm

Magic Wand Workshop | Sostrene Grene | 2-5pm

Design and Colour Elf Welcome Sign | Excel Clothing | 2-5pm

Reindeer Dust Factory | Menarys | 3-5pm

Gingerbread Decorating | The Heatherlea Bakery | 3-5pm

Meet Rudy the Elf | O2 | 4-6pm

Plus the Angel themed lantern parade, sponsored by Main Street, My Street, led by Santa himself and accompanied by local schoolchildren who have been hard at work this week making their lanterns, will depart from the Abbey Church Hall at 5.45pm and proceed down Abbey Street and upper Main Street toward the Christmas light switch on at the new location of the Danske Bank at 6pm.

There will also be art activities outside Boom Studios to keep your little ones amused.

We are absolutely delighted to welcome back Peter Corry to Bangor who will be performing from 5.30pm beside the Christmas tree outside the former Danske Bank leading up to the big switch on at 6pm.

What a fabulously festive day!
