On Saturday 19 November from 12noon – 7pm, enjoy a bit of Christmas magic with a perfect family day out in the City of Bangor. With an indoor and outdoor market, festive music, delicious food and drink, arts and crafts, children’s entertainment, and a traditional carousel.

The Christmas Market returns to Bangor with an abundance of festive treats on offer selling artisan foods and local crafts to kick off some early Christmas shopping.

Market stalls located in the former TK Maxx Building, Main Street (market runs Saturday 12noon – 7pm and Sunday 1pm - 5pm) will be selling an array of artisan handmade gifts and goodies. Hot and cold food outlets will also offer a range of tasty treats at Queen’s Parade Car Park (Saturday only 12noon – 7pm). Grab a drink from the seasonal bar in McKee Clock Arena and enjoy the festive atmosphere.

Join us at McKee Clock Arena from 12noon and keep an eye out for fairy princesses sprinkling a bit of Christmas magic and ‘Elves Behavin’ Badly’, Elfie and Elvie the popular and pranking elves will be up to mischief at intervals throughout the day.

Feel the joy of Christmas with music from local choirs, Harmonic Sounds, Comber Brass and Bangor Ukes who will be performing at intervals throughout the day. Enjoy children’s entertainment, traditional carousel and much more.

Santa and Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Karen Douglas, will be turning on the Christmas tree lights at 5.30pm at McKee Clock Arena.

Trinity Church, 1.30pm-4pm

Seacourt Print Workshop - printing a letter to Santa from, 12noon

Boom! Studios - Craft Trail with activities, from 2pm-5pm

Kodak - Elf Selfie board

Geek Retreat - Pokemon club 11am, Kids Dungeons and Dragons 1pm, adult Dungeon & Dragons 3pm

High Street
YMCA craft activities 2.30-5.30pm

 

Pop into the Bangor Visitor Information Centre at Tower House opposite the marina for information on things to do throughout the festive season, browse the gift shop and pick up souvenirs, locally crafted jewellery and textiles, handmade soaps, Christmas ornaments and more.

Lights Switch On Event and Festive Market organised in partnership with Bangor Chamber of Commerce.

Event runs from 12noon – 7pm.
 

Things to note

McKee Clock Arena capacity is limited.
There will be no lantern parade or fireworks.
Event is free to attend, but charges apply for purchases such as food, drink and for carousel and other children’s rides.

Getting here:
We expect the town to be busy; plan your journey ahead of time.

Car parking will be limited at Queen’s Parade Car Park throughout the day, and parking bays in Lower Main Street will be inaccessible if a road closure comes into effect.

Please take public transport if possible. Bangor Station is located at the top end of Main Street, just a short stroll to the seafront.

If you live locally you may wish to walk in. 

Road closures:
There will be no road closures on the morning of the event, up to mid-afternoon. It is hoped that roads will remain open throughout the event, however, to facilitate public safety in Bangor centre, the PSNI may introduce temporary closures with immediate effect. Affected roads could include Main Street (at the roundabout, beside bus station), Queen’s Parade, Quay Street, Bridge Street, and Parking Bays in Lower Main Street. Please keep an eye on the Council’s social media channels and visitardsandnorthdown.com for updates on Saturday 19 November for information on the day.

Accessibility:
A small area set aside for those with accessibility needs will be available for use, with viewing access to the stage and the Christmas Tree on a first come basis only on the day. Once at capacity it will be closed off.
Mobiloo will also be in attendance.

 

Events will be photographed and filmed. Images may be used in Ards and North Down Borough Council promotional material and on promotional channels including web, social media, and printed publications. During the events if you do not want your image to be used, please inform our event staff.
