Wild Coastal Larder
Monday 27th May, Spring Bank Holiday

12.30 at Kearney Car Park
David Thompson will lead an exploration of the inter-tidal rocky shores, country lanes and an island around Strangford Lough Narrows.  We will seek out the wild food bounty on our doorstep and discover ancient Roman salad leaves, the origin of our beetroot and a lettuce that grows in the sea. Our route will take in the Ards and Strangford Lough shores, and involves walking, sharing stories and some tasting.
Duration: 4 hours

Amongst The Sails, Seals & Seabirds
Saturday 22nd June

Meet Ferry Quay, Portaferry - 10am – 1pm.
Join the flotilla of traditional boats and sails aboard the Saint Brendan and be amongst the spectacular Sail Past of the Festival. David Thompson will reveal the secrets of Strangford Lough, the tidal currents, seals, sea birds and islands. We will provide special lunch aboard.

Ards Peninsula ‘Lands End’ - A Dander Through Time
Saturday 27th July

Meet 12.30am Kearney
David Thompson will lead you, road and foot through the Ards Peninsula ‘Lands End’ -  a landscape left behind by the last Ice Age, exploring time,  place and 4000 years of human settlement.  It will include a visit to a Neolithic burial chamber, high hill settlements, wishing wells, Tower Houses and a fishing village which became a film set. Here at the southern tip of the Ards Peninsula discover why the Vikings named a river which flows two ways Strangr-fjǫrðr.
Duration: 4 hours
