Studio 1A Summer Season present four shows over July & August
Rosemary Drama Group present "Married Bliss" by Sam Cree
Friday 19th and Saturday 20th July
Andrew Calvin Knox is a Ballymena man with a tendency towards ‘prudency with money’. His daughter Mary Rose is a tad ‘agricultural’ so her romantic life is somewhat under-developed! Belfast couple Ernie and Grace Ramsey visit the Knox establishment and are subjected to Andrew Calvin Knox’s characteristic parsimony with hilarious results and a crew of other characters join the mix giving rise to all the classic Sam Cree tensions, famous humour, slap-stick and surprises that have made his comedies perennial favourites with Ulster audiences.
South Bank Playhouse present "Plaza Suite "by Neil Simon
Friday 26th and Saturday 27th July
Hilarity abounds in this portrait of three couples successively occupying a suite at the Plaza. A suburban couple take the suite while their house is being painted and it turns out to be the one in which they honeymooned 23 (or was it 24?) years before and was yesterday the anniversary, or is it today? This wry tale of marriage in tatters is followed by the exploits of a Hollywood producer who, after three marriages, is looking for fresh fields. He calls a childhood sweetheart, now a suburban housewife, for a little sexual diversion. Over the years she has idolized him from afar and is now more than the match he bargained for. The last couple is a mother and father fighting about the best way to get their daughter out of the bathroom and down to the ballroom where guests await her or as Mother yells, "I want you to come out of that bathroom and get married!"
Theatre 3 (Newtownabbey) presents "Widows' Paradise" by Sam Cree
Friday 16th and Saturday 17th August
Five women arrive at a County Antrim caravan park for the weekend, some trying to get away from their male partners and others hoping to find some. However, with the arrival of a group of men planning on a quiet weekend of fishing chaos ensues in this classic Northern Irish farce. One of Sam Cree's best-loved comedies; full of Ulster humour.
Holywood Players present "Second Honeymoon" by Sam Cree
Friday 30th and Saturday 31st August
Set in a Bangor Guest House in the 1960’s, this hilarious comedy follows a week in the life of Frank McIlroy and his wife Agnes who have chosen to revisit the Guest House where they had spent their honeymoon 25 years earlier. With laughter right from the opening line, ‘Second Honeymoon’ is certainly a comedy classic.
