This years Sea Bangor Festival is taking place on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 June and what a weekend it will be! 

Located beside the marina, the annual event transforms the car park on Quay Street into a tented village hosting family friendly activities for the little ones and the big ones, with on the water activities such as have a-go-kayaking. An Under the Sea theme will see local artists repurposing recycled materials, with hands on opportunities for children to take home their own works of arts and crafts.

Sea Bangor promises to be an all-round nautical experience for the whole family!

Under the Sea

Local Project 24 artists are collaborating to provide you with a creative and immersive experience, getting you excited about junk all whilst promoting sustainable practices. With the maritime and recycling theme in mind have a go at card making, storyboard colouring, make and takes as well being able to watch the artsist at their work. Suitable for all ages!

Tiddlers Tent

Children of all ages can dance their hearts out at this Silent Disco - put the headphones on, choose your music and boogie away! It is a joy and a spectacle to watch and will have all the family having a giggle.

Sea Bangor Cafe

Stir your senses at the Sea Bangor Cafe! With sweet and savoury delights to suit every taste, from juicy burgers, to yummy paella. 

The Shanty Shack

The Open House Festival has programmed the weekends music in the Shanty Shack. The music every year always creates a vibrant background soundtrack to the event and visitors are encouraged to sit back and enjoy mini gigs throughout the day:

We are delighted to welcome back the Aerosuperbatics Wingwalkers Aerial Display, the world’s only aerobatic formation wingwalking team:
Saturday 4.30pm | Sunday 3pm

The display will take place over the Belfast Lough so best viewed from anywhere along the Bangor Bay coastline


Saturday only - Have a go at sailing with the Royal Yacht Association, throughout the day. Register and meet at the Slipway off Eisenhower Pier.

Sunday only - Have a go at Kayaking with the Belfast Kayak Club. Register and meet at the Slipway off Eisenhower Pier.


On Saturday, the annual Sea Bangor Rowing Boat Challenge will take place 1pm-4pm. Local community teams compete for the Sea Bangor Cup.


Boat Tours

Sea Shanties Jenny Watt Tours 
Sat 1st and 2nd June - 6pm

Hop on board the Bangor Boat and visit the cave where Jenny Watt once hid. Enjoy sing-a-long Sea Shanties whilst viewing the Co. Down Coast from Belfast Lough.
Finish off the tour by visiting Bangor's oldest pub, Jenny Watt and receive a complimentary dram of whiskey or rum which Jenny herself smuggled.

Pirates Ahoy Boat Trip
Sat 1st and Sun 2nd June 2 x boat trips - 12pm and 1.30pm 

Ahoy maties...... Hope on board the Bangor Boat and hear the story of a children’s favourite fairy tale ‘Treasure Island’, You may even see a real life Pirate.
All children on board will receive a pirate mask and book to take home.

Dublin based Sand Sculpture artist Daniel will be creating a surprise for visitors at the Long Hole just off Eisenhower Pier. This piece of art should not be missed AND it will provide the perfect opportunity to take a selfie - a great way to capture the memory of a fun day out with friends and family! #SeaBangor2019

During the weekend he will be at work creating mini sand sculptures so be sure to take a peak and this talented guy in action.

Along the Pier you will find more fun things for the kids to do - a sensory activity area, the Sea Bangor Graffiti Mural and more!

The Army Reserves will be bringing along military vehicles, tanks and lorries, a climbing wall and other items for display. Come along for a looksee, and have a chat with these brave men and women.

Local college SERC will be hosting cookery demonstrations and competitions again this year at the Festival Kitchen.

The public are invited to participate in a selection of competitions - so if you are a keen cook or baker keep an eye out for more information coming soon!

Free face painting at spots throughout the town, organised by Bangor Chamber of Commerce.

There is plenty of more fun to be had in easy walking distance of Sea Bangor - make a weekend of it

Pickie Funpark is a short stroll away, round the promenade to the other side of the Marina

The Panoramic Wheel is back - well worth a trip for the wow views

Ward Park - visit the ducks and the aviary, relax by the gardens and kids can enjoy the playpark

Bangor Castle Walled Garden - described as the jewel in Bangor's crown, this beautiful spot is great for a wander through or for a picnic. Coffee/snack shop on site and its located between North Down Museum and Bangor Aurora Aquatic and Leisure Complex

Not to mention the many fantastic eateries, coffee shops and shopping there is in the town centre. Bangor is the place to be this weekend!
