VE Day Tea Party

The School Garden, 44 Windmill Rd, Millisle, Down, BT22 2ED

About

hursday 8 May is the 80th anniversary of VE Day and we would like to join in with the many others across the nation to honour the Second World War generation, those who fought, those who died, the many who were evacuated, those who held the ropes on the home front.

We would like to invite you to join us for an afternoon tea on Saturday 10 May from 2.45 pm - 4.45pm

What you can expect:
✔️ a very traditional afternoon tea with scones, (jam and cream of course), some celebratory cup cakes and cake
✔️ did I mention cake? We are joining in with the WI Big Bake and making Nancy Birtwhistle's Orange and Ginger Cake
✔️ VE Day is being commemorated with Lights of Peace and Beacons to be lit on 8 May at 9.30pm. We will be making our own everlasting mini gypsophila wreaths to be hung or placed around a candle. You can add some ribbon and a tag - VE80 to commemorate this historic occasion.
✔️ We would love to hear any stories you may have from the Second World War period, stories passed down through your family. If so, let us know and we can share these together. Additionally, if you have any historic items from that period, please feel free to bring them along so that we can share them with others.
