About

On the night of 31 January 1953, the Princess Victoria sailing from Stranraer foundered off the North Down coast with the loss of over 130 lives. The lifeboat Sir Samuel Kelly, crewed by members of local sailing families, rescued 33 of the 44 survivors in horrendous sea conditions. The Donaghadee Heritage Preservation Company is currently conserving the Sir Samuel Kelly.
