Portaferry Plein Air Festival 2024

The Market House, The Square, Portaferry, Co Down, BT22 1LW
The 'Essence of Portaferry" by Emily Smyth overall winner 2023

About

Three days of painting outdoors in the beautiful town of Portaferry. Based  in the Market House initially, you can enjoy a demonstration by one of Irelands talented artists, then off to enjoy a days painting. Full details and prices are on our website including the additional group tuition and evening sketching boat trip.

The French term En Plein Air means "Out of doors" and refers to the practice of painting entire finished pictures out of doors.

So with that in mind we have three amazing days planned with some of Ireland's best Artists at some of Portaferry's stunning locations. Colin Woodward on Friday, Paul O'Kane on Saturday and Grahame Booth on Sunday, along with members of Portaferry Art Society who will be on hand to offer help and advice.

Over the three days you will enjoy a demonstration by the day's invited Artist, then you are free to go and enjoy a day painting or book to join the day's Artist in small groups of 8 for more intensive tuition.

Additionally, there is an evening sunset cruise on Strangford Lough with a picnic, live music and a glass of wine available on Friday 24th or Saturday 25th May, along with tuition from Donald Nelson, who sketched on board a boat rowing around Ireland.

This is truly an opportunity you won't want to miss.
