Bangor Grammar School, 84 Gransha Road, Bangor, Down, BT19 7QU
A typical model railway scene

About

This event is organised by and was submitted by North Down Model Railway Society (NDMRS)

The event brings together an exciting mix of craft enthusiasts, model makers, hobbyists, and families for a fun and inspiring showcase. Visitors can explore a wide range of exhibits from all over Ireland including model railway layouts of various gauges and eras, a flying display of model aircraft, boats, cars, buses, Meccano, painting materials, 3D printing, Warhammer wargaming, miniature building and Lego.

There will also be hands‑on demonstrations and displays from talented local model makers. You will also be able to purchase new and second-hand model railway items together with materials associated with the hobbies on show.

Organisers say this year's show promises to be the most engaging yet, offering something for all ages and interests. Alongside the main exhibits, guests can enjoy workshops, an Easter-themed ballot, treasure and scavenger hunts and children will get the chance to operate some of the model railway layouts.

Tom McKee, North Down Model Railway Society chairman, said:
"Whether you are a seasoned railway modeller, a parent with young children or just a curious visitor you will find plenty of things here to pique your interest. This is the biggest model show on the island and we would love to welcome you here this weekend."

The event is at Bangor Grammar School, 84 Gransha Road, Bangor, BT19 7QU and will run from 10am to 5pm on Saturday 28th and from noon to 5pm on Sunday 29th. Admission is £10 for adults and accompanied children under 16 go free. Payment is by contactless or cash.

There will be plenty of parking, including for disabled guests, in the school grounds. Everything is on one level so there is easy access for wheelchairs etc. An onsite café will be offering hot and cold food and drinks. A baby-changing and mothering area will be available.

Recognising the volume of support the event receives from the Neurodiverse community, we will have a dedicated quiet zone, with a black-out sensory tent available for any decompression needs, and this will be accessible for those needing a quiet space.
