A painting of a house and garden by Richard Croft

About

As part of the exhibition, 'Drawn Together: An Exhibition of Drawings, Paintings and Prints by Richard Croft PPRUA (1935 – 2025)', art historian, Amanda Croft, will present a talk and tour of the exhibition of her late father's work.

Born in London 1935, Richard Croft worked and exhibited in Northern Ireland from 1959. Retiring in 1985, he worked from his studio in Dundrum, drawing and painting the landscape of Northern Ireland, Ireland and further afield.

He was elected a Royal Ulster Academician in 1967 and was President from 1997 – 2000. His work is held in many private and public collections including Queen's University Belfast, Oxford University, London University and the Irish Embassy Beijing, to name a few.

Join Amanda Croft for this personal insight into this remarkable artist, his creative process, and how this exhibition came about.

Amanda Croft, MA, ADE – is a specialist in twentieth century and contemporary Irish art. She has worked as an art historian and lecturer for over thirty-five years and is a former Teaching Fellow and Head of the History of Art department at Queen's University Belfast.

This talk is part of the exhibition Drawn Together: An Exhibition of Drawings, Paintings and Prints by Richard Croft PPRUA (1935 – 2025) showing from 26 Feb - 21 Mar 2026.

Please Note:

This event is a talk and tour of the exhibition so will involve standing and walking short distances. The exhibition is held in both galleries, and there is a lift available up to the Sunburst Gallery on the first floor.
