Discover Sailing Day

Newtownards Sailing Club, 161 Portaferry Road, Newtownards, County Down, BT22 2AJ
A small sailing dinghy with two people onboard, sailing on open water

About

Newtownards Sailing Club, supported by the Royal Yachting Association (RYA), is throwing open its doors for a Discover Sailing Day - and everyone is welcome!

Led by fully qualified instructors, the taster sessions in dinghy sailing and windsurfing, take place both on the water and onshore, giving participants a safe and enjoyable introduction to sailing.

Sessions run throughout the day in small, friendly groups of up to six, so you'll get a genuine hands-on experience whatever your age or ability.

Whether you've never set foot on a boat before or you've always been curious about windsurfing, this is the perfect place to start. No prior sailing experience is required.

Sailing and windsurfing are sports for life - great for fitness, confidence, getting outdoors - and Strangford Lough offers a spectacular setting, with views of the Mourne Mountains and Scrabo Tower.

Our club has been welcoming sailors of all levels for decades, and Discover Sailing Day is your chance to see what it's all about from the inside.

Come along, get on the water, and meet the friendly faces who make Newtownards Sailing Club such a special place. You might just find your new favourite thing to do.

Timed sessions will run throughout the day for adults and children over 8 - book your slot via the Newtownards Sailing Club website. Places are capped to keep groups small, so we'd recommend booking early to avoid missing out.

Children must be aged 8 years or over and accompanied by an adult.
All safety equipment is provided—just bring suitable outdoor clothing and footwear.
