Director Brigid Watson gives an insight into the fresh new rebrand as local business Ards Peninsula Tours launches fresh new rebrand Sustainable Journeys Ireland'In 2017 I set up Ards Peninsula Tours offering guided coastal walks and coach tours in the Ards Peninsula, County Down. Since then the business has evolved and during lock down I took the opportunity to rebrand the business and renamed it Sustainable Journeys Ireland. This is a more representative name which better reflects what is offered and the values underpinning the business. The business is a Green Tourism provider through the local council and is committed to sustainable tourism https://www.sustainablejourneysireland.com/sustainable-tourism/.

The current global pandemic has focussed peoples’ minds on the importance of the natural world and our connection and experience of it through all our senses. We believe many people want to travel and have a meaningful experience in the place they visit, a sense of the place, a connection to it and an engagement with it at a local level through interaction with local people and the landscape. We connect you with nature, landscapes and heritage, giving you a memorable experience. All tours are led by Brigid Watson, environmentalist, qualified tour guide and educationalist. Brigid enjoys ‘reading the landscape’ for visitors and sharing great stories about the people and the place.

We want to encourage visitors to explore one area more fully, ‘to get under the skin of the area’. Tourists who stay longer in a region benefit the host communities and are therefore supporting rural communities and contributing to their long term sustainability which is a very important way tourists can exercise their power to support local businesses and ‘do their bit for sustainability’ while on holiday.

Relax and unwind on one of our blue flag beaches, smell the wild roses, admire the wildflowers, spot the seals on the shores of Strangford Lough, walk barefoot on the sandy beaches, look out for the birdlife….. just some of the experiences that await you.'
