An outdoor foodie experience that combines the unique setting of a 19th century Walled Garden that once formed the private gardens of the local linen merchant Thomas Workman with an outdoor lunch that celebrates the very best of fresh, organic, seasonal produce.
Hear how current proprietor, Lorraine Small, has taken on the challenge of restoring this delightful 1.5 acre Walled Garden at Helen’s Bay, County Down and how Biruk Sahle, an Ethiopian ‘no-dig’ enthusiast is continuing the now established Community Supported Agriculture box scheme, supplying to the local community and some of Belfast’s top restaurants
This is a rare opportunity to enjoy an outdoor late lunch featuring a vegetarian menu designed especially for the event by local cook and Lecturer in Culinary Nutrition, Kim Close, using the freshest produce straight from the organic soils of the Walled Garden itself alongside some well-known North Down ingredients and produce.
After lunch (yes, there will be dessert!), guests will enjoy a short, guided tour of the garden with Lorraine, Biruk and Kim, learn about the seasonal, organic produce. Then with, refreshments in hand, enjoy a journey through lunch as Kim demonstrates how she made the seasonal feast, with lots of tip, tricks and advice. This is the perfect location to sit back enjoy a relaxed and special dining experience and pick up some gardening and cooking tips along the way. You will leave with a recipe pack and a herb and spice blend to help you recreate the delicious food at home.

We regret that the dishes served as part of the lunch are all part of a set menu and that alternatives cannot be provided.
