Big Garden Bird Watch Training

Big Garden Birdwatch training on the 20 and 21 Jan for the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch on the 27 and 28 Jan.

Join Dot Blakely and members of North Down Birdwatching Club for the RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch. Watch the birds on the feeder and get tips on bird ID.

Kids will have the opportunity to make fat balls for birds, ice a shortbread garden bird, colour bird pictures and more.


Note: North Down bird watching club changed its name from Castle Espie bird watching club, which is now based at Crawfordsburn Country Park. Through out the year Dot Blakely and her club will be bringing birds and nature to everyone.

Monthly (the last Thursday of the month) birdwatching morning walks will start on 22 Feb at 10.30am. The Bird Watch Morning walk will be at Crawfordsburn Counrty park. You will walk up to the waterfall, looking and listening to the resident woodland birds as they are starting to pair up for the breeding season. Afterwards treat yourself to lunch in the woodland cafe at the visitors center. The morning will be lead by Dot Blakely.

Wader Watches happen the first Sunday of the month from Sept to March 1pm-4pm. This is free to anyone walking or cycling past, using binoculars and Scopes. Dot and the club members show the different waders, Wildfowl etc that overwinter in Belfast Lough
