Sunburst Gallery

Beneath The Mantle

Sunburst Gallery, Ards Arts Centre

An exhibition by Emma McKervey and Philip Mussen

2 May – 23 May

Beneath the Mantle explores, through visual art and poetry sites around the Ards and Lecale Peninsulas which have developed sacred resonance through human mark-making, identifying them as borderlands with liminal spaces. These spaces include early Christian and Neolithic sites as well as the places where archaeology has uncovered traces of human endeavour to survive on the land.

Following Contours

Sunburst Gallery, Ards Arts Centre

A solo exhibition by Bernadette Tuite

Following Contours is a solo exhibition by Cork-based ceramic artist Bernadette Tuite. The concept behind the work is to connect people to the landscape physically and conceptually through sculptural ceramic vessels inspired by the Atlantic coast. Though the coast appears rugged, an impervious bulwark against the Atlantic and the elements, it is vulnerable to human impact. By sharing this uniquely beautiful environment explored by sea, translated in ceramic sculpture, the intention is to highlight our obligation for responsible use and stewardship of it.

Next Generation
