Eighteen passionate local businesses, united by a shared commitment to sustainability and community welcomed trade representatives from Tourism Ireland, Tourism Northern Ireland, Visit Belfast and Group Tour Operators.
Formerly known as The Sustainable Giants, the group has evolved into a powerful collaboration that champions ethical practices, environmental stewardship and local engagement. Many members have completed sustainability programmes and earned accreditations, demonstrating their commitment to reducing energy waste, using recyclable products and supporting local suppliers.

Beyond their environmental efforts, these businesses are deeply embedded in their communities, offering free community walks, employing local talent, and showcasing the best of local produce. Their ethos is clear: tourism should enrich both the visitor and the place.

With support from Ards and North Down Borough Council the cluster has reimagined its identity to better reflect its values and ambitions.
Speaking at the event, Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Gillian McCollum, praised the initiative:
“The Loughs and Legends Tourism Cluster is a shining example of what can be achieved when passionate people come together with a shared purpose. Their commitment to sustainability and community is not only admirable - it’s essential. I’m proud to see Ards and North Down leading the way in responsible tourism, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact this group will have on our local economy and environment.”
The launch is a key step toward sharing Ards and North Down’s unique appeal with conscious travellers.
