A late Neolithic burial ground
burial ground, history, Neolithic
This late Neolithic burial ground is situated 2 miles south east of Portaferry and was excavated in 1953 when the remains of at least 15 people were found. The site was then backfilled to protect it leaving only the tops of the stones visible. The site has beautiful views across Millin Bay to the Isle of Man.
Park at the roadside on the bay and walk up the fenced off path at the side of a field to the cairn.
