Due to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) both Bangor and Ards Markets have been cancelled until further notice (updated Monday 23 March).
There are two weekly markets to choose from;
Bangor market is one of the largest open-air markets in Northern Ireland. The market populates ASDA car park every Wednesday from 7am to 1pm and features upwards of 50 stalls, offering a wide selection of the freshest fruit and vegetables, a fantastic range of fish, irresistible home-baked cakes, seasonal plants, shrubs and much, much more.
The market is over 90 years old and is a real institution attracting many visitors from across Northern Ireland, especially during the summer months.
A weekly Saturday market is held in Conway Square, in the centre of Newtownards town, from 8am to 3pm. Each year in September a Harvest Fair is also usually held.
For further information contact the borough Inspector's Office on 028 9182 4005.
There are also two monthly markets in the borough;
In Portaferry, the Market on the Square is held on the first Saturday of the month in and around the refurbished Portaferry Market House. The Market takes place 10am to 1.30pm from April to December.
There is a wealth of extremely talented people in the Portaferry area, so go along and celebrate the area’s artisan food and crafts. Take time to interact with local food and craft producers and learn about their art.
In Comber, the award winning Comber Farmers' Market takes place on the first Thursday of each month from 9am - 1pm in St Mary's Church Car Park, just off Comber Square in the centre of the town. Stock up with local, seasonal produce and enjoy a chat with the producers.
And if it's a craft market you are looking for, don't miss out on the North Down Craft Collective market that takes place in Holywood too during the year. Definately worth a visit for that someting unique and special - for yourself or to give.
