The trail includes both old estate tracks and newly designed and developed trails through the woods
This picturesque 6.5km trail is situated in the privately owned grounds of the Montgomery estate in Greyabbey. The trail includes both old estate tracks and newly designed and developed trails through the estate's woods. It can be accessed on a membership basis only. Toll ride membership is open to BHS Gold members & BHS Approved Riding Schools.
Open all year round, subject to weather conditions, but closed every Saturday in November, December and January and on some other days when events are taking place.
Directions: All vehicles are recommended to enter the estate from the Ballywalter direction. Directions can be found at the bottom of the membership trail card. Riders can also access the trail by the gate at the Abbey ruins.
Surface: Upgraded farm tracks plus new build sections of stone dusted forest track.
Facilities: Members have access to the trail from 8.30am-8.30pm, or when dark in winter months. The route is signed and way marked as a one-way trail for health and safety reasons. Riders must stay on the trail at all times, respecting the privilege of having access to this private land. Each member will receive a trail card with a map and all relevant trail information, a membership card and a hatband to be worn at all times when using the trail. There is a hard standing member’s car park catering for lorries and trailers at the head of the trail. Users will have their own horse or hire one through a BHS Approved Riding School, which is a member of the Toll Ride.
