This autumn’s Taste Ards and North Down, which runs until 23 October, features a variety of foodie experiences across the borough and tickets are selling fast!

While some events are free to attend - such as the special Harvest Comber Farmers’ Market (1 October), Bangor’s Market Fresh (10 October) and a Harvest Market in Newtownards (17 October) – there are also some special foodie experiences on offer during the month-long focus on local food and drink.

Foodie Experiences

They start with the Ulster Scots Food and Culture Night in Donaghadee on Thursday 8 October at 7pm. Four of the town’s fantastic restaurants will each offer three-course culinary delights produced using local ingredients, offering a flavour of the very best Ulster-Scots foodie traditions. Guests will experience the culture and character of the area, with interval acts providing a potted history and local tales between each course. Tickets are priced from £35 per person.

Surf and Turf at the Brig, near Kircubbin, offers another taste sensation on Saturday 10 October (12 noon). Joining forces with other local producers, guests can enjoy a showcase meal with quality Angus beef from Greyabbey alongside superb Strangford Lough langoustines and a special whiskey cocktail from Echlinville. Tickets are priced from £26 per person.

Food and Drink Showcases

Also in October, a trio of local food and drink showcases will be held in Donaghadee, Newtownards and Comber. Local chefs will show off their talent with menus that define the character and flavours of Ards and North Down, and you can meet the makers while discovering the stories behind the produce. Tickets are priced from £39.50 per person.

Don’t forget…

Pre-booking for all foodie experiences and showcases is essential. All are strictly over 18s only, with the exception of Surf and Turf at the Brig (16+). Full terms and conditions can be found on the website.
