Fun, active evening at Ards Town Centre Races Family Event

You are invited to bring your bicycles to join Ards Cycling Club for the Ards Town Centre Races Family Event in Newtownards on Wednesday 17 June 2026 at 6pm in Conway Square, Newtownards with registration commencing 5.15pm at the Ards Art Centre (Old Town Hall).

A curtain raiser for the evening is the opportunity for parents/guardians and children to cycle together on a safe, traffic-free road circuit with a free ice cream for children taking part and a demonstration of Flatland BMX riding by Dino Jeffers in Conway Square. The competitive programme Ards Cycling Club are pleased to host forms the Ulster Criterium Championships, see this link to the Ards Cycling Club website for more info.  A special mention must go to Ards and North Down Borough Council for their support to allow ArdsCC to once again provide an evening of exciting racing on a unique closed road circuit for under-8s to over-60s. Key sponsors, Formation Works (event sponsor) and Black Quay Consulting (children and parents fun circuits) have also provided generous support.

Traffic diversions will be implemented from around 5pm, with the evening’s programme starting with fun circuits for parents and children at 6pm when the roads are closed to motor vehicles.

For males and females who hold a relevant Cycling Ireland licence and want to register for one of the races follow this link.  A special exhibition race to introduce ladies to the excitement that comes from a closed circuit is included in the programme.
