Taking place at WWT Castle Espie Wetland Centre and National Trust Mount Stewart from 10am to 5pm, with free admission to both venues, Shorelife Celebration offers the perfect opportunity to explore, discover and get creative.
Visitors are encouraged to bring along their cameras and get involved. Running alongside the event, the competition invites participants to photograph the activities, wildlife, coastal scenery and special moments that make Shorelife Celebration unique.
Shorelife Celebration coincides with the return of thousands of Brent geese to Strangford Lough, creating a spectacular backdrop for photographers and wildlife enthusiasts alike. Visitors may be lucky enough to spot these remarkable Arctic visitors across the lough and surrounding coastline while exploring the event and capturing their own memorable images for the competition.
From dramatic shoreline views and fascinating wildlife to family experiences and festival highlights, entrants are encouraged to submit images that celebrate the character of Ards and North Down. Photographs can be taken during Shorelife Celebration or at any time before the competition closes on 18 November.
Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Craig Blaney, said:
"Shorelife Celebration is a fantastic opportunity to discover and appreciate the incredible natural heritage on our doorstep. The photography competition offers another way for people to connect with our coastline, whether they are keen amateur photographers, photography enthusiasts or simply enjoy getting creative and capturing special moments.
“We are looking forward to seeing the unique perspectives, creativity and talent of those taking part, and celebrating the images that showcase the very best of Ards and North Down's coastal environment."
The competition is free to enter and open to amateur photographers of all ages and abilities. Winning photographs will be selected by a judging panel, with a selection of images showcased following the competition.
Visitors attending Shorelife Celebration are encouraged to keep their cameras at the ready throughout the day and share their experiences online using #VisitAND.
