Kiri cottage is located close to Kircubbin on the Ards Peninsula. This area of outstanding natural beauty has always been a home to women who crafted an income and independence from their sitting rooms. With this area’s strong history of flax spinning, embroidery and bonnet making, learning to craft at Kiri Cottage weaves the past into the present.

Dander along a beautiful coastal path in the company of local storyteller and tour guide, Brigid Watson. Immerse yourself in nature as you listen to the call of the seabirds and the sounds of the sea. You may even see a seal or two on the rocks. Learn about how the early settlers lived sustainably along the shore and the advantages of a coastal location. Hear the fascinating stories of the social history of the village, the influential matriarch, Mary Ann Donnan. Learn about the skills of the women in spinning, weaving and creating beautiful embroidery. They demonstrated resourcefulness in utilising the sea life to produce food for their families.
