Please read all the information below prior to booking.
- Pre-book a parking space onsite at Newtownards Airfield for Armed Forces Day
- Parking capacity is limited and must be pre-booked.
- Customers must provide their vehicle registration number at the time of booking.
Parking Location
Pre-bookable Car Park Entrance
- Pre-bookable car park | Arrive via the Comber Road entrance only, Newtownards BT23 8SG
- Note - This will be clearly signposted on the Comber Road, Newtownards. Please watch out for pedestrians in the area.
- Vehicles will be parked on hard standing or flat grass within the airfield grounds.
- Please note that grass areas may not be completely level.
- Due to the size of the event site, attendees should expect a 5–10-minute walk from the parking area to the main event area.
Parking Allocation
While individual parking bays will not be assigned, all pre-booked vehicles are guaranteed a space within the airfield.
Access Restrictions
- There will be no vehicle access via Portaferry Road.
- A road closure will be in effect from Castlebawn Roundabout to Old Shore Road.
- All vehicle access must be via Comber Road only.
- Please allow extra time for travel and entry.
Dogs On Site
Dogs are not allowed on Ards Airfield site, but in a special case dogs and assistance dogs will be allowed at the Armed Forces Day event on 21 June for the duration of the event.
- We would advise dog owners this is an extremely busy site with large crowds and loud noises and do not recommend that you bring your dog onto the site.
- However, if you do plan to attend with your dog, they must be kept on a short lead. Owners must clean up after their dogs and dispose of the waste in the appropriate bins.
- Accredited assistance dogs/ emotional support dogs are welcome. Both must be easily identified for their purpose by the dog handler (Identification tags).
- Please note: Leaving dogs in vehicles is strictly prohibited.
Event organisers and staff reserve the right to refuse entry or request removal of any dog that:
• Is not under control
• Appears distressed or aggressive
Motorhomes and Large Vehicles
Motorhomes and large vehicles are permitted to park onsite, during event opening hours ONLY. However, outdoor seating beside vehicles is not allowed. Once parked, all attendees must leave their vehicles and enter the event site.
Note: This ticket is for Standard Parking only.
- Accessible parking is also available onsite.
- Customers requiring accessible parking must book an Accessible Parking Ticket (bookable here) and display a valid Blue Badge upon entry.
- Accessible vehicles will be parked on hard standing ground within the airfield grounds.

Entry to and use of this car park is at your own risk and subject to the terms and conditions stipulated by the Council.
Terms and Conditions
- Access to the car park is not permitted before 9:30 AM, and all vehicles must vacate the premises by 5:30 PM.
- Drivers must park as directed and follow the instructions of parking attendants at all times.
- Vehicles parked in designated Blue Badge areas must clearly display a valid Blue Badge.
- Engines must be turned off once the vehicle is parked and may only be restarted when changing position or exiting the car park.
- Lighting or causing any fire within the car park or anywhere on the event site is strictly prohibited.
- The consumption of intoxicating liquor in the car park or in any vehicle within it is not allowed.
- No tents, booths, stands, buildings, or other structures may be erected in the car park or on the event site without prior permission.
- The sale of goods or services in or near the car park is prohibited without the prior consent of the Council.
- No refunds or exchanges.
