About
The gorgeous choral sound of Sestina Music in our amazing acoustics - bliss!
This programme will feature music written for the international court of Christian IV of Denmark.
Based around the music of John Dowland, lutenist to the King, Sestina Music will also perform madrigals and motets by lesser known composers, including Mogens Pedersøn, Melchior Borchgrevinck and Hans Nielsen.
In association with Dr Siobhán Armstrong, Sestina Music will also explore the music played by two Irish harpers at the court, Darby Scott and Searlas O Raghallaigh (Charles O'Reilly).
Music of Denmark, Italy, Ireland, England and Scotland will provide an exciting and varied programme of music.
"This Messiah performance was a triumph. Fresh, edgy and intense. The cast of voices left no stone unturned. The audience were gripped and left the cathedral excited, knowing this was a special performance"
