Frump in the Stump can be found in a tree on the Deerpark Road en route to Portaferry.

Frump in the Stump can be found in a tree on the Deerpark Road en route to Portaferry.  It is craftily carved into a tall wooden stump by the Belfast sculptor Raymond Watson. Having exhibited in New York, Raymond had been commissioned by the Woodland Trust to create something in wood, to draw attention to the Trust’s new 14-acre plantation of young trees at Corrog. The “Frump” stands rooted to the spot at the entrance to the new 12,000 tree, deciduous woodland. The “Frump” is really a dryad, a nymph from Greek mythology, inhabiting a tree, as explained by John Bragg, the Trust’s Woodland Officer.  She, or it, supposedly jumped into the tree to guard it from being cut down!
