The orchestra works regularly with the most talented young local musicians
The Studio Symphony Orchestra is a recognised leader in amateur music making in Northern Ireland, attracting skilled musicians from across the country and performing regular public concerts in a number of local venues. The orchestra is professionally directed by members of the Ulster Orchestra and performs to a very high standard.
The orchestra works regularly with the most talented young local musicians, providing them the opportunity to give concerto performances and gain valuable experience. It specialises in staging large scale works which deserve to be heard live but which are rarely staged professionally due to the costs involved. Browse our archive to find many examples of past performances.
As the season changes, we look forward to welcoming old friends and new audiences to our performances this November held in St Comgall's Parish Hall in Bangor for our Autumn concert performed with major classical pieces, full of passion, excitement, romance - and wonderful tunes.
The programme will include...
Beethoven - Egmont Overture
Haydn - Trumpet Concerto (Soloist David Johnson)
Sibelius - Symphony No.1
Come and experience a large symphony orchestra in full flight - Beethoven's stunning Egmont Overture, possibly Haydn's most popular concerto which fully exploits the trumpet - and the soloist's - technical ability, and Sibelius' 1st Symphony, awash with good tunes.
